Happy Valentine's Day! <3 May all the lovebirds out there stay sweet, those who are looking for love can find one soon, and of course, if you choose to stay single, wish you a happy life too ~ Things are slightly different this year as we are still in a constant fight with COVID-19. I was pretty sure that I would skip Valentine's celebration if I was allowed to travel home to celebrate Chinese New Year. Parents over honey at any time.
My boyfriend and I chose to have an early celebration, as usual, to avoid crowds. The only clue I had was he made a reservation at a French restaurant in Tanglin. It's not hard to find out what's his plan given the obvious clue, but I guess I had been too busy for the past few days to do a proper search. I have to commend him to come up with a brilliant idea as I truly enjoyed the afternoon high tea at Brasserie Les Saveurs located in St Regis Hotel.

Savoury platter containing:
(1) Grilled unagi sandwich
(2) Pickled cauliflower tart - Have to make special remark to this dish as it changed my perception towards cauliflower XD I am never a fan of cauliflower and was reluctant to even take a bite. But this tasted surprisingly good; it came with a tinge of sourness and was very refreshing.
(3) Beef pastrami and onion jam tea sandwich
(4) Chicken ceasar roll
Couldn't emphasise how good the scones were. They came in original and raisin flavours, served with clotted cream, lemon curd (my personal favourite) and strawberry jam.
My favourite had to be the 70% dark chocolate tart.
Asparagus veloute, poached egg and parmesan espuma (or culinary foam in layman term). Very interesting combination with strong parmesan fragrance.
Last course of the day: Strawberry and Champagne. First time trying something like this. It's hard to describe the taste but all I could say is the champagne foam went well together with strawberry slices.
The afternoon tea set comes with complimentary freshly brewed coffee (by cup) or tea of choice (by pot, refillable).
(1) Moroccan mint: A timeless classic from TWG. The mint taste was not overpowering.
(2) St Regis tea blend: Recommended by the hotel staff as the most popular choice. I would only recommend it to those who like a strong fruity taste (and I am not one of them).
Sharing some photos snapped at St Regis Hotel to end the post. Have a good day, everyone!
Beautiful European establishment with high ceilings and enormous crystal chandeliers.
At the spiral staircase.
Felt liking chanting Sia's song: "I'm gonna swing from the chandelier... from the chandelier..."
