Singapore - Lloyd's Inn

Hello! Happy weekend everyone! We just came back from our staycation and the inertia to go back to the usual work routine is real. Anyway, I will be writing a series of posts sharing our staycation experience this time, starting from accommodation in this post, as a reference for those who are still deliberating how to make use of SingapoRediscovers vouchers.

Lloyd's Inn

Cost per night for a standard-room = ~$190 per night for 2 pax

(+) Clean and rather spacious room (SG Clean certified hotel), good breakfast, photogenic, a lot of food options nearby, dipping pool with comfortable lounges
(-) 10-15 mins walk to the nearest bus stop and MRT station, pool with fallen leaves

This is a place for those who love nature and a laid-back vibe, but still like a convenient location in the CBD area (nearest MRT station being Somerset). It provides a great escape from the hustle and bustle of city life at an affordable price tag. Worth a try if you are bored with conventional hotel staycation. The standard room is rather spacious for 2 people, and it is well-equipped with necessities such as toiletries, a hair-dryer, indoor slippers and a small fridge. Their bathroom also adopts a unique open-air concept (boyfriend loves the rain shower). You can also opt for a more luxurious room type, for example, the Big Sky Room that features an outdoor bathtub basking in the open air and a loft area.

Spacious room with high ceiling.

Open-air bathroom.

Instead of serving their own breakfast, Lloyd's Inn chose to collaborate with Artisan Boulangerie Co Cafe nearby, where you may redeem a freshly-baked pastry and a cup of specialty coffee/tea. Highly recommend the chocolate banana croissant, featuring buttery flaky layers, sweet banana filling and rich chocolate sauce. Simple breakfast, great contentment. Oh yeah, another highlight is their full-length windows that bathe the interior with sunlight, which gave me a false impression that I was in a foreign country in lieu of Singapore.

Good news for people who don't like to walk too far, we were also spoilt by (multi-national) food options along Killiney Road that is just a stone's throw away. Walking further down, you will reach the busy Somerset district where you can never get bored of.

Da Shi Jia Big Prawn Mee
Address: 89 Killiney Rd, Singapore 239534.
Opening hours: 11am to 9pm daily

As its Chinese name of 大食家大大大虾面 suggests, their prawns come in 4 sizes, depending on how many "大" you prefer 😁 Just look at the giant prawns in the picture below! Apart from the impressive size, the prawns tasted fresh. Would go for the wok-fried white bee hoon version on any day. Of course, you can customise the dish by choosing other types of noodles. Prawn stock is used to enhance the flavour of the noodles, and the generous amount of homemade chilli sauce (not overly spicy) further complements the dish.

Address: 71 Killiney Rd, Singapore 239527.
Opening hours: Varies, refer to the website.

Vegetarian Vietnamese food is not that common but the Kind Bowl is one of them. Despite the limited choices on the menu, all the food photos look healthy and yummy, and we had a hard time deciding. Our food experience didn't disappoint, even for a carnivore like my boyfriend. The BBQ Delight, which is a new item introduced into the menu, came brimming with fried spring rolls, grilled vegetarian meats and veggies. My favourite was the spring rolls that were crispy and delicious but not too oily. We also ordered a side dish - summer rice rolls that captivated us with its fresh ingredients and refreshing taste.

BBQ Delight ($12.80) and Summer Roll ($3.80).

Warung M. Nasir
Address: 69 Killiney Rd, Singapore 239526.
Opening hours: 10am to 10pm daily

Shout-out to Indonesian-styled Nasi Padang lovers. They serve a diverse range of dishes, including Asam fish, curry chicken, sambal eggs and curry veggies etc. The dish that really stood out for us was beef rendang. It was tender with the right amount of spices. The other 2 dishes we tried were fried potatoes (a tad spicy to my taste buds, well, I always have low tolerance) and bergedil (no complaints about this).

Thanks for reading the post til the end. Sharing some pretty photos taken around Lloyd's Inn to end the post :)
