You thought you have fully explored this small country known as Singapore, you could be wrong, given there are always new cafes/exhibitions/attractions that deserve your attention! Today, we will focus on a common chill-out place - Orchard/Somerset. For tourists visiting Singapore, I hope this post can give you some ideas on your itinerary planning, especially if you have included this town area as part of your shopping trip!
Marketed as a boutique tea house, Arteastiq level up the game by serving exotic/unusual flavoured tea, promoting art of drinking tea. Oh, did I forget to mention that there is an art jam studio for you to showcase your creativity?
Compared to Walking on Sunshine, I liked the food here better. We ordered Squid ink Spaghetti and Spicy Crayfish Spaghetti. Both dishes were beautifully garnished with edible flowers to boost your appetite. The lavender Earl Grey tea that we ordered was undeniably the star of the show. I stole a glance at the signature Lychee Tea ordered by others sitting at the next table and it looked very appetising. I would love to try that during my next visit!
Lastly, the restaurant often offers promotions through various apps such as Eatigo or Chope. M1 users can also claim 1-for-1 main course deal at Arteastiq during their birthday month. Don't miss out as saving every dollar counts :)
I would suggest you to alight at Somerset station if you wish to explore the following places. People who are not that active (unfortunately I belong to this group too) prefer to walk minimally. After having sufficient shots at the Instagram-worthy places below, you can easily make your way to Orchard (happy shopping, everyone)!
Instagrammable cafes

Opening hours: 10am to 10pm daily
Flowers, be it fresh or dried, are my all-time weakness! There are a couple of garden-themed restaurants where I would love to explore though, will share again after I visit them! Back to the topic, we had a great time in this new cafe in the town (probably not so new anymore considering my visit was few months back).
I could sense the excitement in the air as the group stepped in the cafe. Simply gorgeous. Walking on Sunshine is a combined beauty salon and cafe-bar, bringing us a total new concept of beauty and dining, as described on their website.
The cafe serves Korean-inspired Western food. Food tasted fine. My boyfriend quite enjoyed the coffee, but I found it too strong for my liking. Their prices were slightly higher than normal cafes (of course you have to pay premiums for the nice ambiance).

Creamy coconut smoothie coffee was unique.
The dried flowers were quite a sight to behold.
The ultimate photospot for every visitors here.
I just looked very tired in all the photos captured. :(

Instagrammable attractions
Emerald Hill
Have you been wondering where do those bloggers take wonderful shots with vintage shophouses as backdrop? Most people will probably answer Joo Chiat as the first place that comes to their mind, only minority of people will be aware of the existence of Emerald Hill. Compared to rather "ulu" Joo Chiat in the east, access to Emerald Hill is much easier as it is within walking distance from Somerset MRT (about 5 to 7 mins). There are also a couple of hipster bars and restaurants in the area, allowing you to grab a quick bite/drink and rest your feet.

Anyway, I am loving the minimalistic grey maxi dress from AndWellDressed.
I kept wondering what kind of people stays in these colourful houses.
Orchard Library
Recently, libraries or bookstores have become popular instragrammable spots. And Orchard Library is undoubtedly the representative of Singapore. As it is a public library, anyone (including foreign tourists) are allowed to enter and it is absolutely free.
Nonetheless, given it's a functioning library, we should be considerate to other users by minimising our noises and avoiding blockage to the rest.
I shall end my post here. Will update the post accordingly if I have the opportunity to identify and visit other new sites. See you next time and have a good week ahead! :)
