One of my favourite activities to do in Bangkok is exploring beautiful cafes. And I have so many listed in my note (Bangkok is indeed well-known for fancy themed cafes) but too little time to conquer all. My boyfriend being a huge dog lover made it compulsory to include at least a dog cafe in our itinerary.
So where did we go in the end and whether these cafes worth the hype? LET'S GET STARTED!
Stylenanda Pink Hotel Bangkok - Pink Pool Cafe (Level 4)
Address: Pathum Wan, Pathum Wan District, Bangkok 10330, Thailand.
Opening hours: 10am to 10pm daily
Having seen a great number of photos taken in this place on Instagram, I decided that this should top my cafe list in Bangkok. Moreover, the place is located in Siam area (most people would have placed this in their itinerary anyway), that is relatively near to our hotel in Pratunam.
Head up to the top level cafe for even more photo opportunities. It was quiet during our visit and we owned the entire place to ourselves. Ordered the signature Vietnamese coffee (THB125) - did not impress me though. If you are looking for a photogeneic beverage as a prop, suggest ordering those that come with fluffy and pastel-coloured cotton candy. Simply ask the counter staff for recommendations.
I couldn't remember when was the grand opening of this place, but somehow most props looked aged and under-maintained. Calling out the fellow visitors to take good care of the props while taking photos. Be a responsible visitor, okay? :)
The photogenic setup at Level 2 - it is hard to miss! This place was initially scheduled for another day, therefore my outfit did not seem to match the pink environment. Perhaps a white dress would have done a better job.
You can actually see the scratches on the props if you pay greater attention.
LOL to his facial expression here.
I like how they pasted all the rules on the wall as if we were really in a pool area.
The cafe was quiet on a Thursday evening.
Blue Whale Cafe
Address: 392/37 Maha Rat Rd Khwaeng Phra Borom Maha Ratchawang, Khet Phra Nakhon
Bangkok, Thailand.
Opening hours: 10am to 8pm daily, closed on Thurs
Shifting from 50 shades of pink to different hues of blue, HAHA. You may combine this cafe with the visit to Grand Temple, Wat Pho and Wat Arun given they are all located in close proximity.
No such thing as being indecisive about what to order as almost every table had the signature butterfly pea drinks. We ordered two equally beautiful blue drinks, skipped the food as we were still full from our buffet breakfast. Honestly, I didn't enjoy the drinks as butterfly pea flowers are definitely an acquired taste.
We had a good time chilling out at the third level of the cafe - featuring floor seating and natural sunlight from the windows overlooking the busy street. As time approaching noon time, the cafe got more and more crowded. To our surprise, we met a lot of Japanese tourists here; just sharing a fact here :P
Love the idea of fish scale-shaped tiles.
(Left) Iced Butterfly Pea Latte, THB120.
(Right) Cold Blue Coffee, THB150.
Another angle please ~ Couldn't stop taking photos of these beautiful sky-coloured babies.
Finally took his first sip :D
I really like the staircase but somehow the photos did not turn out as good as expected. T.T
Corgi In The Garden
Address: 338/1 Kallapaphruek Road Bang Wa, Phasi Charoen, Bangkok 10160, Thailand
Time slots: 10.30am (weekends only), 12.30pm, 2.30pm and 4.30pm **Closed on Mondays**
We actually shortlisted two dog cafes - TrueLove at Neverland (Husky cafe) and this Corgi In The Garden but my boy selected corgi without a doubt. Oh well, he has been saying to keep a corgi in the future. Indeed, who could resist these short-legged, fluffy little cutie pies (even for people like me who don't like animals in general)?
So how does the cafe work? You need to come at specific entry times and will be given 1 hour to spend time with the dogs. It will be better to reach early so you get to choose your ideal seats. You need to purchase at least a drink/food set per pax (price starts from 350THB for a basic drink set) as a pass to enter the cafe. Additionally, you will need to buy dog snacks to grab the cuties' attention and each small bowl costs THB100.
This place is truly a heaven for all the dog lovers. However, please take note of the facts that the visit will be rather costly, taking into account the entry fees and transport (as the place is quite far from the city centre).
The coconut pandan cake was surprisingly yummy.
The dogs here were named after common items such as Bean and Babycorn, how cute!
This boy was clearly in his la-la land.
My super exhausted face even with the beautifying effect in my camera. It's just too difficult to take photos with DSLR with the little dogs running around you.
So I only managed to check 3 cafes off my to-visit list... Til the next time, Bangkok!
