I love coffee, I love chilling in a relaxed cozy environment, I love having chit-chat with close friends, and thus it is not surprising that I love cafes. HAHA, and hence cafes hopping is always on top of my to-do list during overseas trips. We all know that Vietnamese people love coffee and thus it is not surprising that there are a lot of good cafes in Hanoi that are definitely worth visiting.
I-Feel Cafe Lounge and Bar
Address: 5th floor,19-21 Dinh Tien Hoang Street | 5th floor, 63 Cau Go, Hanoi, Vietnam.
Opening Hours: 8am to 11.30pm daily
We discovered this rooftop cafe by chance. We were wandering at Old Quarter and hunting for good food. The cafe staffs approached us with warm smiles and the cafe menu. To be honest, unless you walk with your heads looking up to the sky, it's almost impossible to spot the cafe! The entrance at ground floor looked dull and could be easily overlooked. Okay, actually the cafe is located at fifth floor and wow, it looked pretty decent and amazing, a gem hidden in Old Quarter indeed.
The sofa seats were really comfortable. It wasn't particuarly crowded during our visit, probably because it was still too early for dinner.
Vietnamese iced black coffee. I really love the strong aroma and rich flavour. To be honest, as a traditional coffee lover, I absolutely fell in love with Vietnamese coffee. Gonna miss that taste when I am back to my home country.
Couldn't remember the exact name of the coffee, but it's too sweet for my liking.
Mushroom rolled in grilled bacon. The bacon was crispy and the mushroom inside was soft and juicy. Thumbs up for the lovely combination.
BBQ Pork Pizza. I would say that it tasted good but it wasn't too outstanding.
I guess the main attraction of the cafe was the amazing view of Hoam Kiem Lake! You can enjoy the breeze while admiring the spectacular view of the city.
We were trying to capture the beauty of sunset, a bit failed though. Anyway, I think this cafe offers a good place to chill. The food is quite up to standard and the pricing is reasonable.
The Kafe
Address: 18 Dien Bien Phu, Hanoi 10000, Vietnam.
Opening Hours: 7.30 am to 11 pm
So Tiff (my cute Vietnamese friend) highly recommended this cafe to us so we decided to give it a try. It's located quite far from Old Quarter and we had to take a cab (laziness was the main reason in fact). The kafe is a gem hidden in the city with really cozy and relaxed ambience. Try to avoid peak hours if you wish to enjoy the peace here. It's marketed as the first urban fusion cafe for trendy customers who look for fresh and delicious fusion cuisine.
Personally I love the cafe very much. However, as expected, the pricing is relatively higher. But I would still be willing to pay an additional charge for the modern stylish dining environment. And I highly recomment trying the waffles as they were so gooddddddd.
Refreshing drinks for a hot summer day. We felt like hiding inside the cafe until the sun went down.
Passion fruit mousse. Love the sweet and sour combination as well as the silky smooth texture of the mousse.
Crab salad with refreshing lemon sauce. Good for health-conscious people.
Waffles served with vanilla ice-cream and red wine sauce. My favourite dish of the day. Love the slightly crispy waffles and the ice-cream. Really went well with the fragrant red wine sauce.
Cafe Pho Co
Address: 11 Hang Gai, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi.
Another popular coffee in Hanoi is yogurt coffee served in Cafe Pho Co. Yogurt and coffee together? Sounds interesting enough. The cafe is also famous for the stunning view of Hoan Kiem Lake. I found the yogurt coffee quite nice. Haha, maybe I should try it at home by pouring some plain yogurt into black coffee. You might have a difficult to locate the cafe because it is well-hidden in a small valley. Spot the yellow sign below!
Yogurt coffee and Vietnamese black coffee. To be honest, I didn't think that yogurt made a good match with coffee. But for people who are curious about the taste, can drop by and try =)
A random photo captured from the roof top. I think it's good photo to end this post. How I wish I have more time to explore more cafes in Hanoi...
