Singapore - St John's, Lazarus and Kusu Islands

Hello everyone, I am back with another new post! Had some free time at night for the past few days to sort the photos and draft the post! It will be a super "blue" post with gorgeous beaches and our matching baby blue outfits.

Short ferry rides has taken us off the bustling Singapore city to two tranquil, peaceful islands - St John's and Kusu. Continue reading to find out more!

Things to take note
  1. You will be boarding from Marina South Pier. The ferry timings can be checked here. Please take note that the ferry will you to St John's Island and then to Kusu Island before returning to Marina South Pier. Ferry does not travel from Kusu Island back to St John's Island. Therefore, it is important to plan the duration you wish to spend on each island beforehand.
  2. Suggest arriving at the ferry terminal at least 10 mins earlier as the boarding is based on first come first serve basis. Also keep your ticket safe as you will have to present it to the staffs for boarding.
  3. It takes about 30 mins to reach St John's from Singapore Mainland and another 10 mins from St John's to Kusu. Just to provide a heads-up that the journeys can be rough at times.
  4. No food or drinks are sold in both islands. Well, you can buy some cold drinks from the little stall at the temple on Kusu Island. Other than that, nope.
  5. Get your camera ready as there are plenty of photo opportunities, hehe.
Cost per pax for two-way ferry trips: $15 for adults (discounted price from $18 for online purchases) and $12 for children

St John Island
The island is in fact a base to a campsite and research facility, for your information. From ferry terminal, suggest to turn left from the jetty and head towards Lazarus Island. Trust us, we had explored the other side and there was nothing interesting, unless you are looking for toilets.

Tried to coordinate our outfits! Looking good?

If only the background was more appealing...

Attempting candid shot.

Lazarus Island
Lazarus Island is now connected to St John's Island via a paved bridge. Oh my, it is such a beautiful hidden gem in Singapore! I was actually viewing white sandy beach with crystal clear sea water. It is a great place to swim, calling out to the swimmers out there. Some people also bring their own snorkeling equipment for a fun day with marine life.

Due to time constraints, we didn't venture into Seringat Island, located in the other end of Lazarus Island. Heard that it's still pretty undeveloped and remains peaceful.

En route to picturesque Lazarus Island.

Straw hat and shades are the most reliable accessories for beach photoshoot.

I have to say that this photo is my favourite from the day trip.

The naughty wind just wouldn't cooperate.

Kusu Island
Compared to St John and Lazarus, Kusu Island is much smaller and houses a Chinese temple and a Malay shrine. Kusu translates to tortoises in English, hence, it's not surprising to find some cute tortoises here. Kids will be so excited to greet them!

The island will be flooded with devotees during Kusu Pilgrimage that usually takes place at the end of the year. You may want to avoid the period if you are looking for a relaxing trip  without massive crowd.

To wrap up the post, if you are getting bored during weekends, St John Island and Kusu Island can be considered for a day trip! Families with kids are highly welcomed too, for the children to get in touch with nature. Bye for now!
