Genting Guide

The theme park is still under construction and I don't think that it would be opened so soon. Yet, we enjoyed ourselves very much during this short 2-day-1-night trip (though I think it was a pain to sit on the bus for long hours). Let's me bring you through our fun-filled journey!

Transport
We opted for an overnight bus from Singapore to Genting on a Friday night. Departing from Singapore at 11.30pm (please be at the pick-up point half an hour earlier), we reached our destination at 6.30am and started our day early. We returned to Singapore on Sunday, with the bus leaving Genting Highland at 12.30pm. The return journey took a longer time (approximately 9 hours) as the bus stopped at two places (firstly, the souvenir shop and lunch place; secondly, the dinner place/toilet break at Yong Peng). We chose two different bus companies (Sri Maju Group and The One Travel and Tours) and I would say I had good experience with both. The seats were spacious and comfortable. And I didn't feel that my life was under threat as the drivers didn't speed (I had bad experience with some other bus companies). To save your time, you can book via Easybook website which allows you to have an overview of bus schedules from multiple companies.

Accommodation
We stayed at First World Hotel, which is also the first choice for most people since it is the cheapest option. The room was tiny but the space was enough for 2 persons. Simply top up RM5 at arrival and you can enjoy early check-in, though the room availability highly depends on your luck. We managed to secure a room at 9am. Even if you cannot get a room, not to worry, you can always leave your luggage at storage area for free!

Activities
Awana Skyway
One way costs RM7 per person. Whether you are on your way up or down the mountain, you would not want to miss the stop at the Chin Swee station at no additional charge. Remember to keep your ticket! After exploring the scenic Chin Swee Temple, you can continue your journey to Genting Premium Outlets (GPO).

Chin Swee Temple
The weather changes drastically here. It was a sunny day when we reached there. Lucky us who managed to capture a few good photos before it started drizzling. You can spend about 1.5 to 2 hours to fully explore place.

Shopping at Genting Highlands Premium Outlets
I love the weather here, which makes the shopping even more enjoyable. We didn't spend much time here as I find the brands available are rather limited, good for people who are looking for good deals for sportswear.

Other Activities to Consider:
1. Try your luck at Casino. Disclaimer: Not to promote gambling here. And I definitely hate the cigarette smell in casino. Good for exposure and ... claim free drinks.
2. Catch a movie at Bona Cinema. Get your popcorn combo at RM7, so much cheaper than Singapore right?
3. Relive your childhood memories at Arcade. You have buy a non-refundable card at a minimum purchase of RM22 (which includes 20 credits, the card itself costs RM2, so 1 credit = RM1). We found out that one game will cost you 3 to 5 credits. I am so in love in shooting game by the way.

Food
Buffet Breakfast at The Food Factory
Adults: RM32 (~SGD11)
Children: RM16 (~SGD5.30)

Arriving early here, what's better than a warm breakfast? Choose from an array of West Asian, East Asian, and Western breakfast delights. Curry chicken may sound too heavy for breakfast but I found the fragrance irresistible and it tasted so good! If you don't like buffet style, Malaysian Food Street at Sky Avenue serves good breakfast as well, ranging from congee, dim sum, roti prata etc.

Are you an Asian food lover?

Or more into Western-styled breakfast?

Burgers & Lobsters
One of the main highlights of the trip. Come at lunch hours to avoid the long queue at dinner time, no jokes. Wish we came in a big group, then we could share more dishes such as lobster rolls. We tried Chili Lobster, the sauce was yummy. Lobster was fresh and delicious, thumbs up! Overall, I think it worth a try. We spent RM105 oer person (chili lobster for sharing and 2 drinks).

Good for sharing.

Grapefruit soda.

Timekeeper. Lovely drink.

Chili Lobster (RM158). It came with brioche (a type of French bread).

Krispy Kreme
Just think the world cup doughnuts are cute so I gotta include the photos in the post. But what had you all done to Germany and Brazil? LOL.

This is so cute!

Tai Bae 台宝贝
Looking for quick food to beat the hunger? Braised meat rice (卤肉饭) is the choice to go. It's not as oily as I thought it would be, tasted quite yummy!

Finally I will end the post with some random photos ~
