Osaka 2 - Universal Studio Japan

Our highlight of Osaka trip - Universal Studio Japan (USJ)! As a totally obsessed fan of Harry Potter, there is no excuse for me to not pay a visit to USJ, even though I had been to Universal Studio Singapore (USJ) twice. I know there are plenty of websites out there describing how to spend your time wisely in USJ to cover all the possible attractions. Somehow we are not so keen to rush all the time even though we paid a huge amount for this visit.

How to purchase the tickets?
Here is the link to official website regarding the tickets purchase. We bought our tickets from Lawson few days before the visit. Kindly visit this page for step-by-step guidance on how to use the ticket machine in Lawson. By the way, Lawson is one of the renowned chain convenience stores in Japan, just like 7-11 or Family Mart. I find it as a more convenient way than looking for travel agencies and you can always ask the storekeeper to help you if you are struggling with the machine.

Do I need to get an express pass?
Personally, I don't mind paying more to secure my entry to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. In case you are not aware, your USJ entry ticket does not guarantee your chance to enter Harry Potter world as you might be required to queue for another timed entry ticket in the park, depending on the crowd on that day. See here. If you are lucky enough, you might not need the timed entry ticket at all. However, we were very sure that we would only visit USJ once in our life and we definitely didn't want to leave here with regrets, hence we bought Standard 4 express pass. For the coverage of each type of express pass, click here. Please check carefully as not all express card includes a timed entry for the Wizarding World. Express tickets can be bought on the day itself, but it is based on first-come-first-serve basis! Therefore, remember to come early (even before the park opens officially as the crowd can be insane!), which was what we did as we heard that sometimes the park will operate earlier than the scheduled opening time. The operating hours vary between seasons, be sure to check the official website for the updated information.

How do I get to USJ?
Click here. My recommendation is to take train. Not time-consuming and not too expensive as well.

The subsequent part of the post will feature a lot of photos taken, sorry for the spam but we couldn't help it because every little corner of USJ is photogenic!

The minion parade.

Love the colourful background.

Our lunch from Jurassic Park. We managed to sneak some bread in but still energy used up rapidly in the park. This was one of the cheapest food we could find in the park. Found it yummy, probably because we were famished.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter
Without doubt, my favourite ride is Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey. We were glad that we had the express pass for this because the average waiting time for this ride is 1 hour. It is not very scary but you will be fascinated by the special 3D effects. Another must-do thing here is to get the butter beer. Taste wise, I think ordinary, haha.

Yes, it is alright to just put on and take photos!

That sums up my day in USJ. WISH EVERYONE A GOOD DAY IN USJ!
